GI Bill and VA Information
In support of your military service, we are happy to announce that BICSI Credential exams may be eligible for reimbursement by the VA. Active Duty Military, Veterans and your qualifying dependents can take advantage of this opportunity!
Licensing and Certification
- Often required for work in certain fields, licensing and/or certification tests may be eligible for GI Bill reimbursement.*
- By licensing and/or certification, VA is referring to the licensing and/or certification you get by taking a specific test for a field of employment, and not a certificate you receive for completing training. Get detailed information in the VA Licensing and Certification Pamphlet.
Type of Assistance
Tests that may be reimbursable by VA include licensing and/or certification for specific field of employment. For a BICSI Credential you may take the test up to three times per year. After the one year period, you must submit a new application (requiring an additional fee) to BICSI. The VA will pay for tests (exams) even if you fail them.
Available Benefits
VA pays only the test costs, or up to $2,000 for each test. Other fees connected with obtaining a license and/or certification such as an application fee for a BICSI Credential are not reimbursable. Reimbursement is issued after you submit proof of payment to the VA. Find out how your GI Bill entitlement will be charged for using the licensing and/or certification benefit.
How To Apply
Apply for benefits, along with your request for payment for a test or tests. Complete the VA Form 22-0803 (Application for Reimbursement of Licensing or Certification Test) on the VA website, under “Ask A Question”, or mail it to your nearest VA regional processing office.
BICSI offers credentialing programs in the Information & Communications (ICT) industry. Candidates for BICSI credentials are required to show industry experience and pass rigorous exams based on the content of BICSI manuals. Those who pass must adhere to strict standards of conduct and keep their knowledge current through continuing education.
*BICSI courses are not currently covered under the GI Bill reimbursement.
