The Self-Nomination Form to Serve on the BICSI Board of Directors is Now Available

A prime opportunity to volunteer and give back is now available to you, and that is to serve on the BICSI Board of Directors. If elected, you would play a central role in keeping BICSI relevant and advancing our position in the industry.

If you feel you would be qualified to serve, consider nominating yourself to volunteer as a member of the BICSI Board of Directors. The positions on the Board that are up for election are: 

President-Elect
Treasurer

Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Region Director (NEW position)
U.S. North-Central Region Director
U.S. Northeast Region Director

Nominations will be accepted through Sunday, 30 June 2019 at 11:59 p.m. (EDT).

This year, BICSI is using Survey Monkey, an online survey development tool, to gather nominees' information. All active BICSI members will receive an email with a unique link to the form and instructions on how to complete it. If you did not receive an email with the link and want one re-sent to you, please contact [email protected]

Board of Directors Nominations Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does it mean to serve on the BICSI Board of Directors?

    All Board members serve a two-year term. During this time period you will further BICSI's mission, stated as:

    • Lead the information and communications technology industry with excellence in publications, education and knowledge assessment.
    • Advance our members’ ability to deliver the highest quality products and services.
    • Provide our members with opportunities for continual improvement and enhanced professional stature.
     
  • Do I need to be a BICSI member to self-nominate for a BICSI Board of Directors position?

    Yes, only active BICSI members are eligible to serve on the Board of Directors.

    For the office of President-Elect, the nominee must be a member of BICSI for at least thirty-six (36) consecutive months prior to the acceptance of the nomination by the Nominating Committee.

    For the first election held for Region Director when a District becomes a newly constituted Region, the nominee must be a member of BICSI for at least twelve (12) consecutive months prior to the acceptance of the nomination by the Nominating Committee.

    For all other positions on the Board of Directors, the nominee must be a member of BICSI for twenty-four (24) consecutive months prior to the acceptance of the nomination by the Nominating Committee. 

  • Does serving on the Board mean I have to travel to all BICSI conferences and events?

    Board members will be expected to attend the two BICSI U.S. annual conferences as well as a Board planning session held annually. Board members are also given committee assignments that will require their arrival at each conference site several days in advance of the actual conference. Board members will also be expected to participate in a minimum of four Board conference calls.

    BICSI pays for seven (7) nights hotel stay during Winter Conference and six (6) nights hotel stay during Fall Conference. The Winter Conference airfare will be paid for by BICSI for each Board member. Airfare is the responsibility of each Board member for the Fall Conference. Board members are responsible for their own ground transportation and meals during all conferences. For a non-conference scheduled (Board) meeting, BICSI will pay up to four (4) nights hotel stay, airfare, meals and transportation for all Board members attending the meeting for all current and incoming board members.
  • When does the nomination process begin and end?

    The nomination process begins on or before 15 April 2019. All active BICSI Members will receive email instructions on how to self-nominate for open Board of Directors positions.

    The self-nomination process closes on Sunday, 30 June 2019 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Daylight Time).

  • Are there any restrictions for serving on the Board?

    Yes. There are restrictions that apply to serving on the BICSI Board of Directors, which can be found on page 2 of the Nominating Committee Policies and Procedures document. All nominees are required to read and agree to these policies and procedures.
  • When completing the Survey Monkey-based nomination form, can I save my application and work on it later?

    Yes, the application invitation link you received via email is a dynamic link to your application.You can access it from any browser or computer. However, to preserve your answers you must successfully click on the “Next” button at the bottom of that page. Otherwise, the answers on that current open page will not be saved when you return to the link.
