Industry-Recognized Validation
Not all professional associations are created equally. A professional association’s recognition by accrediting, licensing and industry-approving organizations shine a spotlight on the association’s competence and expertise. BICSI prides itself on its continuous improvement in the ICT field. As a professional association focused on its members and others in the industry, BICSI always seeks to expand and improve its offerings through third-party validation of its programs.
Florida Department of Education
| The Commission for Independent Education (CIE) has statutory responsibilities in matters relating to nonpublic, postsecondary, educational institutions. In keeping with the Florida Department of Education's goal of producing a seamless educational system, some of these functions include consumer protection, program improvement, institutional policies and administration, data management, and the licensure of independent schools, colleges and universities. BICSI Learning Academy was granted a provisional license by the CIE in 2018 (License Number 5788) for its BICSI Cabling Installation and Design Programs. It indicates that our institution meets substantially all the standard for licensure. See the 2017-2018 CIE Annual Report. |
The CPD Certification Service
BICSI is an “accredited Continuing Professional Development (CPD) provider” (Membership Number 11771) by The CPD Certification Service. That means that our instructor-led, online, and vILT courses are eligible for CPD Hours. In addition, based on approval some BICSI events are eligible for CPD Hours. CPD Hours are required by many professionals internationally, including the UK and South Pacific, to demonstrate they are staying current with the latest in industry and professional trends, technologies, best practices, etc. Many BICSI members and non-members globally are required to maintain CPD Hours for their professional certifications and licenses. The CPD Certification Service was established in 1996 as an independent accreditation center working across all sectors and disciplines. Across many industries and professions, different requirements exist for professionals to maintain their licensures, credentials, and/or certifications. BICSI is currently listed on the CPD Website in the Provider Directory. See BICSI’s courses listed in the CPD Course Catalog. American Institute of Architects (AIA)
| American Institute of Architects (AIA) members must complete a minimum number of hours of continuing education annually. Also, many licensing and registration jurisdictions require some level of continuing education. Architects need continuing education to maintain competency and to future proof their careers beyond any licensing and registration requirements. AIA’s continuing education requirements differentiate their member architects from those architects who are simply licensed. To support the demand for quality continuing education across a wide domain of topics and delivery modalities, the AIA established the Continuing Education Services (CES) program in 1995. The AIA CES program leverages a network of providers to design, develop, deliver, and administer high-quality, relevant learning programs to satisfy AIA requirements for continuing education related to the field of architecture and architectural practice as well as the mandatory continuing education requirements for state license registration and renewal. BICSI has been recognized by the AIA as one of these AIA CES Approved Providers. BICSI Design and Project Management courses satisfy AIA credential holders' general learning unit hours requirements, as well as the coveted Health, Safety, and Welfare (HSW) learning unit hour requirements. For more details on the list of approved courses and their respective LU/HSW credits, click: www.bicsi.org/aia. For example, AIA members will have a deeper understanding of why the inclusion of an RCDD on-staff is critical to accurately assess a building owner’s telecommunications needs and to design and implement a plan that allows for imminent growth, with minimal costs for later upgrades. |
